RIVERS EDGE GIBSONTON, FLORIDA
The Rivers Edge Lounge & Marina is a great Rustic spot on the Alafia River South of Tampa. It doubles as a Biker Bar and Marina where patrons come by boat as well as cars, trucks and motorcycles. A big motorcycle hang out on Sundays. It's about 50 miles from St. Pete on the roadways, on the other side of Tampa Bay in Gibsonton, Florida. You can have a lot of fun here, but during the rainy season you take a chance on getting stuck here as happened to vinnie and I on July 21, 2007 (Check out the photo's and video's below). It poured all afternoon and bout 7:30 we rode back to St. Pete in the rain since it wasn't going to stop, but it did slow down enough to ride in. Gibsonton Florida is also known as the winter home of the Carnival people, although I understand there's not many of them left anymore and one of the last Historic Spots, Giants Camp Restaurant on Rt. 41 recently shut down for good. Vinnie and I were lucky enough to visit this spot several times before it closed. The popular TV program "The X Files" even made a TV program about the Carnival people in Gibsonton.
