There are many great places to eat in the St. Petersburg area. These are some of the places that I have visited. There are some places that should be listed here and probably will be at some point, but these are well known especially in the biker community, such as Biff Burgers (Great Burgers, Breakfast & BBQ) and Quaker Steak & Lube (Great food and the top Bike Night in the area).

For now, I will review restaurants that aren't necessarily Biker Places but offer something different. You know what they say..

Before I go any further...
this event is this weekend and I'm sure it will appeal
to all of the dog owners out there..

I hope to be there with Abbey our new Labradoodle Puppy
and Rajee our 10 year old Lhasa apso .

Come hang out with Cube..

Photos & Videos From the Salty Dog Day

I have to tell ya .. When I attended the Salty Dog day with my dogs.. I figured I'd be there for a beer or two and be on my way, But I was pleasantly surprised. I spent almost 4 hours there and had a great time. Met some really nice people with some great pets and the DJ played some great music. It was a very relaxing day for me and my pets. They said they plan on doing this dog thingy twice a year and you can bet I'll be at all of them.

They have a great patio and fenced in outdoor area, including the sand volleyball courts .. so it's the perfect place for this kind of bring your pet event.

I almost forgot to mention that they chanced off a bunch of really nice pet prizes. One of them being a 2 night stay in the "pet" suite at the Trade Winds Resort. All money raised by the drawing went to various Pet Charities !

I really like this place and everyone I met. Some people who read my review below expressed that they thought I was to harsh with my evaluation.  I  may have been a little to harsh, but I really like this place and I still think that $ 3.50 for a bottle of Miller Lite and some of the other prices will keep people from checking the place out or spending a lot of time there.

I think this place will become one of my favorite places... despite the over priced beer during non happy hour times. I'll probably spend my time there on Sundays and during happy hour when the beer is a little cheaper, but you can bet I'll be here a lot... Come check it out and hang with Cube & Vinnie..... I LIKE THIS PLACE!

Here's some photos and videos of the Salty Dog event... If you missed it ... don't miss the next one...

My review
December 17, 2009

I got a phone call from my buddy Gum's and he suggested that I check out this new place that a friend of his  opened not to long ago. So Vinnie and I went and checked it out. He said they were thinking about doing a bike night to get the word out about their new place.

Well I have to tell you, It's a really nice place, Great menu, But certainly not a Biker type bar. This is a Yuppie bar, but it's a place that I could visit for a change of pace and it just might grow on you.. as long as you visit during happy hour, so you could afford the beer prices. Vinnie got a Corona and I got a bottle of Miller Lite, Cause they didn't have Miller Lite on Draft and it was $ 8.50 for our beers... Happy hour was 2-4-1 so that made it a lot better. And speaking of draft beer... They got 12 brands of draft beer and I only recognized one brand.... I guess I need to visit Yuppie Bars more often... But who drinks this shit... Half of them I couldn't even pronounce their names!

And this Bucket Special really got me...
If this is a deal... I never wanta pay the full price

But I did like the place... Friendly bartender (A barmaid with some nice tits would have been better), but we talked with some of the younger patrons that had just gotten their dinner and they reviewed all the good stuff on the menu, since it seemed to be their regular place. The menu sounds great and Vinnie and I will be back to check out the food. The price of the food was reasonable.. for this kind of place.. $7.00 and up.....and I have to tell you it looked very appealing and the aroma made me hungry. The Mac and Cheese will be first on my list to try when we return.

As a after thought... I think this place should open earlier... I think it's 4 pm Except for  11 AM Sundays... Maybe they should try opening at 11 AM everyday. There's lots of us folks that are out and about during the day and a new place with lunch specials would be nice. Just might help to spread the word about this new place!

They also have a huge patio, outside bar and Volleyball courts.... Really nice outside.

The Menu

Looks like NFL Sundays would be a good time to check this place out....

I think this place has potential for a Saturday or Sunday afternoon / evening monthly biker event, but probably not a weekly bike night. There's a few things that Bikers like that's lacking in this place... no Bud or other cheaper domestic draft beers, no pool tables and with the beer prices.. you won't be spending all day at this place. But... Like I said this is a Yuppie Bar, not a biker bar... But I believe you could have a good time here if enough bikers showed up.

I think a biker band like "The Greg Billings Band" would work out great here. Half of the Greg Billings followers are yuppies anyway and he does draw a crowd.

Click here to see the Greg Billings Band
at the New Years Eve event at the Trade Winds Resort
last year.... and he will be there again this year.

It's everything everybody said it was.... One of the "Best and
Biggest" Cuban Sandwiches I have ever seen or eaten !
This sandwich was almost 4" thick and all meat !

Vinnie and I have seen the Stone Soup ad in Creative Loafing for some time now and we decided to check it out on a Saturday night. It was early about 7 PM, but I figured there would be a dinner crowd there. I was wrong, there was only one other couple there when we got there. Later as we were about to leave a few couples came into the bar area. Could be this is a late night place or maybe even an after work place. Seemed like they wanted to appeal to the "Yuppie" Crowd.

The food was ok, but they seem to only have lunch style food... even for dinner, so I would guess this place hasn't gotten over being a lunch place. I think if they hope to compete in the dinner trade they better put some dinner items on the menu. It could be that they are limited to what they can make by their kitchen, but sandwiches just don't get it for the dinner crowd.

We had an attentive waitress, but their beer menu lacked a variety of domestic brands, so I  settled for a Samuel Adams Summer Ale. It was nice to try a different brand of beer, but I would have rather had a Miller Lite.

Although it was a nice place, we probably won't be returning... Just not our kind of place.
