Restaurant Reviews

There are many great places to eat in the St. Petersburg area. These are some of the places that I have visited. There are some places that should be listed here and probably will be at some point, but these are well known especially in the biker community, such as Biff Burgers (Great Burgers, Breakfast & BBQ) and Quaker Steak & Lube (Great food and the top Bike Night in the area).

For now, I will review restaurants that aren't necessarily Biker Places but offer something different. You know what they say..

SNEAKY PETE'S HAVE GONE OUT OF BUSINESS

AND IT DON'T SURPRISE ME...

We were Harley'n our way home from a great afternoon at the Wild Indian in Largo, Florida and thought we would stop by and check out Sneaky Pete's on Park Bldv in Pinellas Park. We have been wanting to check this place out , but it seems we don't get that way to often, then we forget about the place. They had a free special attraction "Diva Mania Women's Wrestling" outside in the parking lot, so it sounded like a good time to check this place out.

They had a nice small crowd for the Diva Wrestling which worked out great because we could get close to the action. Well..... It was pretty fake and almost funny, but it was somewhat entertaining.. I guess. Most people seemed to be enjoying the show and went along with the action... cheering on their favorite girl (See photo's and video below). Some of them Wrestlers had nice boob jobs... Things like that tend to make people like me enjoy the show a lot more!!!

Since we were out partying all day we thought it would be a good time to check out the food at Sneaky Pete's, since most people were outside. We went inside and it was really a nice big place, nice bar and several people tending bar. So we ordered some food and got a beer. After about 45 minutes I ask the bartender where our food was? He said, as he walked by, that "It wasn't up yet"! Now we ordered Chicken fingers and Vinnie got a Pita Bread Chicken Wrap with a Greek Salad. Now there was about 6 people in the place and it don't take 45 minutes to make what we ordered. I don't know what would happen if they were were busy, you would probably never get your food.

On top of that, I found the bartenders to be very un-attentive, somewhat rude and very much into themselves. They seemed to be agitated about something... Flying up and down the bar , slamming bottles in the ice bin, Cussing and swearing.... Maybe it was just a bad day for them, but not very impressive for first time visitors. It was apparent that they were not professional bartenders by any stretch of the imagination, more like people that didn't have a clue how to tend bar!

We finally got our food, no napkins, so I had to go down the bar and steal a few bar napkins, because I couldn't get their attention. The bright spot in this whole affair was that the food was pretty good, once we got it. You would think that the owner of a new place would be more concerned about having quality help.... Although I will have to say, the girl behind the bar had a nice boob job... another bright spot!

Well, we were ready to leave and couldn't get any bartenders attention so we could pay them. God help this place if they ever get busy. We paid by credit card and after our experience with these so called bartenders, decided we better check our bill to be sure it was correct. Turns out the bill was not itemized, only a total showing, very bad for the customer that would like to make sure his bill is correct.

We did run into some friends of ours who apparently frequent this place on a somewhat regular basis and said they were surprised at our bad experience, but agreed that this was not a good night for this place. Our friends told us that the owner would like to start a bike night or at least attract some biker business. At this point, I would not recommend Sneaky Pete's to any of my Harley friends, but I got a feeling that the "Crotch Rocket" crowd would feel right at home here!

Normally I would return for a second visit, just in case this was an unusual night, But I don't think I'll be back..... to many other places to have a good time and spend my money!

Click here and check out the Wild Indian in Largo..... One of my favorite places...

Here's a few more video's of the diva Wrestling ..... Listen for the spectator in video # 3 that yells, "I think she's got something under her shirt... I think it's a tire"...LOL!!

THE MELTING POT

For the last two years I have tried to get reservations at the Melting Pot for Valentines Day. I usually forget to make "way in" advance reservations for this special day and by the time I remember... they are booked up. This year we decided just to go a few days later... and it worked out great. We visited this place on a Sunday evening and it was just right, not packed, but plenty of people there.

The food was outstanding, a dimly lit dining room and great service. The manger also stopped by our table to inquire how we were enjoying our diner, which was a nice touch!

Since it was a special Day (Valentines Day - a few days late) we decided to  do the four-course "Fondue Feast" thingy (Coq Au Vin Cooking Style), along with a pitcher of Sangria. We were definitely stuffed when we finished the choc "flaming Turtle" fondue dessert.

This place can be a little pricey depending on what you get ...so this place will probably be just a place for special occasions for me, But I guess you could always pop in for just a cheese fondue. I would make a reservation if it's a weekend though.

Just remember...
It's not just about the food... It's the experience

Vinnie and I usually go to the Craft show on Cory Ave. in St. Pete beach, FL
when it's there. We have been waiting for the Frog Pond to open right across the street from the craft show so we could experience the "Frog Pond" restaurant. I have to say it was everything that we had heard about the place. Great food selections, very generous portions, and outstanding service. Prices are a little more than most breakfast places, but well worth it. A very pleasant dining experience and I can't wait to return for lunch or dinner. It doesn't appear that they have a web site , which surprises me in this day and age, but with their reputation I guess they figure they don't need one. Be prepared for a short wait for a table.

Vinnie and I discovered this great restaurant on 4th St. in St. Pete on our way home from Tampa. Although it's been around for a while, it was our first time there.Great food, good service, nice atmosphere. Prices are reasonable for this type restaurant, and the Mexican cuisine is outstanding. If your looking for something different.... this is the place to visit.

We liked it so much we returned on Sunday for breakfast ... Absolutely a great breakfast menu with very different selections.

Vinnie saw this place on TV and we just had to try it out.
You see I'm half Polish and half Pennsylvania Dutch and my
grandmother on my dads side immigrated to the USA around 1904.
She didn't speak much English, but one of the things she did do was
pass on down the art of making Pierogis. I grew up on these things and
I use my grandmother's recipe when I make my own. Making your own
from scratch requires a lot of time and when I make them... I make a
mess of my kitchen, but it's worth it ! Anyway.. we checked this place out and it's pretty neat , different decor inside and we had the cutest waitress.
She was  from Poland... only in the USA for 3 months she told us. I think
most of the waiters and waitresses were from Poland. I had to try a real
Polish beer to go with my Pierogis and I must say everything was pretty good.
They do have other things on the menu, just in case you or your friends
want other things.  I still like my own homemade pierogi's better, but when you don't have the time  or don't really want to mess up your kitchen...
this is the place to go..
