Cube's There are many great places to eat in the St. Petersburg area. These are some of the places that I have visited. There are some places that should be listed here and probably will be at some point, but these are well known especially in the biker community, such as Biff Burgers (Great Burgers, Breakfast & BBQ) and Quaker Steak & Lube (Great food and the top Bike Night in the area). For now, I will review restaurants that aren't necessarily Biker Places but offer something different. You know what they say.. The Happy Shack
4400 4th
Street North 727-525-0969 Vinnie and I were out Harley'n one day and happened to spot this place. So the one day when we were just looking for new places to hang out... we checked this place out. Pretty neat little place! New owners just did a remodel of the inside and it's pretty nice. Brand new kitchen and very reasonable prices. Not real fancy.. Just a clean, everything new, neighorhood bar. Check out the menu below. This would be
a great place for the bikers to check out that run 4th street in St. I was told the place has been there for a long time. It was originally a Gas Station, which was bought by a guy returning from Vietnam in 1969 and turned into a bar... At least that's the story. I think it had two other names while it was a bar, but now its known as the Happy Shack! This place is worth checking out.... You just might find a new place to spend some time when your out Harley'n.

AM - Midnight Happy Hours
Vinnie and I were in the neighborhood and decided to try out the New Pete & Shorty's Tavern. It's in the mall at the corner of 49th St. N and Park Blvd. Actually you can park in the mall out front or travel down Park Blvd a little distance and park in the rear lot. It's a brand new building, so everything is fresh and clean. We have been in the one in Clearwater, but I think I like this place a little better. Must be because everything is new! The burgers, fries and deep fried
pickles are great, the beer is ice cold, they have liquor and I can't wait to
try some other items on the To see the complete menu .... Scroll down I did wonder why they ran the TV cables and electrical outlets out of the ceiling, instead of the walls behind the TV's, to conceal them, the way they do most places, especially if the building is new like this place is. Looks kind of shabby, but maybe they had a reason for doing that... I kind of notice things like that! This is a great place and we will be going back...... You just got to see the water fountain on the wall in the front of the building... I just gotta have one of those.....

And one more thing that just makes this place kind of unique..... Something special in the Ladies Restroom...... and you ladies ain't gona believe what's under the Fig Leaf..... Lift the Fig leaf on the portrait and take a look... You probably have never experienced anything like this.... Could this be a hint ????
No ... I wasn't in the Ladies restroom... Vinnie told me about it and took the photos below...

THE MELTING POT
For the last two years I have tried to get reservations at the Melting Pot for Valentines Day. I usually forget to make "way in" advance reservations for this special day and by the time I remember... they are booked up. This year we decided just to go a few days later... and it worked out great. We visited this place on a Sunday evening and it was just right, not packed, but plenty of people there. The food was outstanding, a dimly lit dining room and great service. The manger also stopped by our table to inquire how we were enjoying our diner, which was a nice touch!
Since it was a special Day (Valentines Day - a few days late) we decided to do the four-course "Fondue Feast" thingy (Coq Au Vin Cooking Style), along with a pitcher of Sangria. We were definitely stuffed when we finished the choc "flaming Turtle" fondue dessert. This place can be a little pricey depending on what you get ...so this place will probably be just a place for special occasions for me, But I guess you could always pop in for just a cheese fondue. I would make a reservation if it's a weekend though. Just

Vinnie and I discovered this great restaurant on 4th St. in St. Pete on our way home from Tampa. Although it's been around for a while, it was our first time there.Great food, good service, nice atmosphere. Prices are reasonable for this type restaurant, and the Mexican cuisine is outstanding. If your looking for something different.... this is the place to visit. We liked it so much we returned on Sunday for breakfast ... Absolutely a great breakfast menu with very different selections.
